greener pastures

Thrifted jacket, Gap jeans & top, Target boots, vintage necklace

Since the last time I posted, Fayetteville has become Waterworld. I have never seen so much rain in my life and the flooding in our area was almost crazy to believe. Because of the constant rain my outfits have been consisting of jeans and boots, which I don't mind at all. I have a week left of school before finals and I have so many projects on my plate right now. I am pretty excited about how much I've done considering my horrible case of LAZYBONEZZZ! I've been working on a peter pan collar blouse for my pattern drafting class, and after staring at measurements for so long I am soo sleepy. I'm in the homestretch now, but I'll be back to regular blogging in no time :)
Stay warm, dry, and happy!
P.S. don't forget--you have one day to enter my giveaway!

#schoolsucks

All photos property of Doug Murray

Hey guys, no outift post today. I have way too may projects to finish--among other things and I need to stop getting distracted. It's been raining/windy this past week and it makes me not want to do anything, especially taking outfit photos. But in the mean time here are some of my favorite film photos that Doug developed. The first one is my favorite building on campus--Old Main at the University of Arkansas. Well, I better start working--doesn't look like this is going to be a relaxing weekend for me. Poop.

I hope you all have a great Easter weekend!

hideaway

Thrifted 80s shorts, Banana Republic tank, thrifted necklace, thrifted scarf

Do you ever have one of those days where you'd much rather stay inside hiding under blankets and being a recluse? Well today was one of those days for me. As soon as I got home from class I threw on these shorts and they were just what I needed to brighten up my day. These, my friends, are my mostfavoriteintheuniverse--lounging around shorts. Doug thinks they're ridiculous but he always supports my quirky tastes...Zeus on the other hand, looked me up and down as if he was confused(he's a pretty judgmental cat haha).

I enjoy reading all of your entries for my giveaway and all the variety of favorite colors, from brown to grey and everything in between ! I'm listening to the soundtrack from Where The Wild Things Are right now which makes for a great night--LET THE WILD RUMPUS BEGIN!

purple people eater & a giveaway!

On me: Vintage 70s blouse via Grey Dog, vintage scarf, target floppy hat, thrifted shorts, f21 oxfords, DIY rings
On Zeus: vintage polka dot scarf

It's Friday, which puts me in a super good mood despite the sudden drop in temperature! It's amazing what a little sunshine can do. This is yet another fun blouse that I got from where I work--the pleats, print and soft lilac color is just so fun to wear. I also found this floppy hat in the abyss that is my closet, crumpled and raggedy. But behold, I added new life to it by paring it with my newest go-to accessory--a vintage scarf! I wrapped it up and knotted it up around the band which brightened it up!
And now for a giveaway! I'm going to share my recent obsession with scarves and giveaway a vintage goodie of your very own and Zeus wanted to model them for you guys but he's not up for grabs ;)  Isn't he the sweetest? I've also been making my own rings out of vintage jewelry and would love to give one away, specially made for the winners!

seafoam scallops

Vintage 70s blouse, vintage scarf, Fossil vintage re-issue messenger, F21 shorts, thrifted Keds

So I think I'm hooked on wearing scarves like this, they make me feel like a ninja. I received this scarf two years ago after I wrote a story for the school paper about the owner of The Vintage Scarf who sells quality scarves in an assortment of colors. I love the colors on it and the print has a neat explosion of colors--which I LOVE! I found this blouse at a local thrift store for a few dollars, the color stole my heart and the detail on the collar and pocket were just too cute. I just have to roll up the sleeves because they're way too billowy for my taste. I also found these Keds a couple years back at a thrift store for only $5 and they were brand spankin' new! They're so comfortable and perfect for days on the go.

I also want to take a moment to share some ultimate cheesiness: It means so much to me that some of you are leaving such sweet comments about being inspired by me. I ultimately started this blog with the hope of being able to inspire at least one person that fashion or style doesn't have to be about buying expensive name brands, being super thin/tall, or having tons of money. Having style to me has always been about working with what you have, making things uniquely yours, and feeling confident in your own skin to rock any look you want. So, to share some love for your love I'll be having a giveaway soon so stay tuned folks!

It's fun to print in Y-M-C-K, I mean CMYK

BB Dakota skirt,Fossil vintage re-issue messenger, F21 necklace and v-neck, Dolce Vita for Target wedges, DIY ring

So I've been trying to maintain some consistency with posting, every three days seemed to work great but I've had a relapse. But this past week is over and I'm now on to conquer the next! Although I didn't get to wear this skirt for very long (because of crazy wind) it was still nice to get it out in this warm weather that we've been blessed with. I call it my CMYK skirt, but probably because I've been on Illustrator for way too long and my brain is freezing up. I've also reached a little over 400 followers and it blows my mind, you guys are the greatest and I love the blogging community. Each one of you inspires me!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

crayon tribe

Thrifted tee, thrifted 80s bag, F21 oxfords & necklace, vintage scarf, DIY ring, DIY shorts

Pink/coral/salmon + mint have become my favorite colors of spring. I love pairing them together because it creates a fun and youthful look that just screams SPRING! I've had these pink jeans for a few years, and as pants they were almost too much...even for a color loving gal like me. Recently I decided to turn them into shorts. Since it's getting warmer, I'm coming up with new accessories to replace my beloved wool hats. I'm finally pulling out my collection of scarves and putting them to good use. I wore this one Steven Tyler style, although you can't see in the pictures. I haven't tried the turband look yet, but some of you adorable bloggers are pulling them off so well that I'm tempted to give it a try!

What are your favorite spring color combinations? Inspire me :)

Happy Tuesday everybody!

people are strange

F21 dress, thrifted Dooney & Bourke bag, DIY necklace,

I've been feeling crafty lately so I've been collecting little pretty things and turning them into something new that I can use. For example, I found this little sun gold sun hat at a thrift store and it was actually an earring that was missing it's pair. I decided to turn it into a necklace (yes, I mixed a silver chain with gold but who cares--work with what you have!)

For those who asked for photos of my new apartment, I decided to show a quick snapshot of my room (it looks more cute in person). If you haven't noticed, blue is my favorite color. I actually didn't realize it until now that I had a theme going on, blue is actually very calming. Everything in my room was under $30 ( individually and not including the tv). I love being thrifty because it really challenges your creativity and it's so nice to make something completely your own--even if all it takes is a fresh coat of paint.

I also watched The Lost Boys last night, hence the title. Childhood favorite. I loved the Frog brothers. And the clothes ...ahh so so great!
Have a beautiful and inspiring weekend!
